History

Basil Fox and Ian Hay founded Fox Hay Timber & Hardware in 1954 at premises in Beach Street, Port Melbourne. It started life as a manufacturer of wooden boxes and crates for the canning, soft drink and other industries.

As cardboard replaced wood, Fox Hay moved into wholesaling timber, in particular furniture ply veneer board and hardwoods.

By the mid 1990’s Fox Hay had become a retail timber and materials supplier for the building trade.

In May 2000 the business moved to a modern warehouse and yard facility in 458 Graham Street Port Melbourne.

Under the direction of Mr Bruce Fox, the business has grown to be one of the best-known timber suppliers in Melbourne. It has become a major supplier to the Film and Television set construction industry, Display and Events companies, as well as continuing to support Builders, Renovators and Tradesmen.
